As I look back, the academic year 2011-2012 has brought many accomplishments and also made us see the gaps in some areas where there is a definite scope for improvement.
I have immense pleasure in presenting the Annual report of Velammal Vidhyashram for the year 2011-2012 on the auspicious occasion of its First Annual Day celebrations : ‘Navarasam -2012 : Expressions of Life’.
Before I begin, I bow before the grand munificence Mother Velammal, who founded this organisation.
Velammal Vidhyashram has always emphasised on implementation of the CCE norms in all facets of the school curriculum. Some of the systems that were successfully accomplished are:
Utmost care and guidance were provided to the teaching fraternity on following the rule of “learning by doing”. Irrespective of the subject students were made to feel that learning was fun through activity based teaching.
Field trips are a type of experiential learning that gets children away from the traditional classroom setting and into a new mode of learning. Students of Tilak wing were taken to field trips depending upon the topic of discussion to Anna Centenary Library, Birla Planetarium, Milk Diary etc.
Our students warmly responded to help the needy. They contributed a sum of Rs.85,000  towards Chief Minister’s Thane relief fund.
The introduction of preparing class magazine was initiated in a phased manner. Every class right from Jr. KG to std. VIII prepared class magazine. Ms. Jayaseeli, Class teacher of VI E, Ms.Malathy of Class teacher of V A, Ms,Nagalakshmi Class II C teacher and Ms.Kamini     Jr.KG A teacher  received the prizes on behalf of their class children.

Children’s Day
Life, love, and laughter - what priceless gifts to give our children! Teachers of Velammal Vidhyashram, Tilak wing celebrated Children’s day to entertain our students. They presented Skit, Song, Poem recitation etc. Also it made us recollect that there is a child in each one of us.
Teachers get together
Love is the debt we owe one another”, and “Hope can be ignited by a spark of encouragement”. To share this love and feeling of togetherness Tilak wing teachers organised for a get together on 2nd April 2012. It was not only the delicious food that was shared but also the love and care in it.

Corridor discipline
